Comprehensive Evaluation/Oral Examinations
During an Oral Examination a visual inspection is performed to detect normal and abnormal structures of the entire mouth, head and neck. Along with radiographs, examinations detect cavities, abnormalities in existing dental restorations, gum and bone recession, and any other abnormal findings within the mouth, head and neck.
A dental cleaning, also known as an Oral Prophylaxis is the removal of dental plaque and tartar (calculus) from the teeth. Specialized instruments are used to gently remove these deposits without harming the teeth. First, an ultrasonic device that emits vibrations and is cooled with water is used to loosen and remove the tartar. Then, the teeth are polished.
Scaling and Root Planning
Scaling and root planning is a non-surgical procedure used to treat gum disease. Specialized dental instruments are used to remove dental plaque and calculus from beneath the gums. Root planning helps the gums heal and reattach themselves to a cleaner and smoother root surface.
Tooth-colored fillings are a staple of family dentistry. Cavities and chips are common in children and adults alike. Tooth-colored fillings are a subtle way to repair the decayed or damaged teeth.
Ultra-thin custom made porcelain laminate that are permanently bonded to teeth. They can flawlessly cover broken, chipped, discolored, crooked or gapped teeth. Most celebrities and top models achieve their bright and perfect smiles with porcelain veneers.
Dental crowns can restore both the function and the beauty of damaged teeth. A crown will restore the tooth’s natural function. Your crown will enable you to bite down, chew and speak naturally. We provide custom-fit porcelain crowns.
A tooth implant is a durable titanium cylinder that is surgically placed into the upper or lower jawbone. After placement. The implant will fuse with the jawbone until it’s fully integrated and becomes part of your body. Dental implants work just like real teeth with real roots. An implant can sustain all of the bite force and ability of a natural tooth.
Root Canal Therapy
When the decay reaches the nerve or bacterial infection develops inside the tooth, the root canal therapy is needed. It is a scary phrase but it is one of the best ways to relieve pain and swelling. Left untreated, the tooth will most likely be extracted/removed. Many patients believe that the tooth has to be removed in order to eliminate pain, but if the tooth can be saved, having a root canal therapy is a treatment of choice.
Do you have too many missing teeth or perhaps not a candidate for a bridge or implant? Then, a denture may be an option. A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for the missing teeth and the surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth. Not only does it enhance your smile but improves your chewing, speech and digestion ability. There are two types of dentures that could be made:
Complete Denture for replacing all your missing teeth or a Partial Denture when some natural teeth still exist.
I always strive to save the natural tooth whenever possible, but sometimes the tooth is no longer salvageable. This may cause serious dental problems on the surrounding teeth. If you have a toothache or a loose tooth we will examine the tooth and the teeth around it to discuss all possible treatment options. If needed I will extract your tooth to alleviate the pain.
